It was called “The Pavilion” and was built in the mid-1920s as part of the remodeling and additions made to the original Paul Isenberg home on the beach. The Pavilion became the Waialae Clubhouse and opened at the same time as the Royal Hawaiian Hotel on February 1, 1927. It was perfect for social events including luncheons and dinner dances. The upstairs lanai had great views of the ocean and mountains on either side. A modern restaurant-type kitchen and ultimately an outdoor dance floor with a retractable roof, to cover it in the event of rain, made The Pavilion a popular place.
